Open Transportation is the service for the day that does not fit into a route. Instead of buying a trip from A to B, you book the vehicle and the driver for a block of time — three hours or twelve — and use it however the day goes: a cenote, then lunch in Puerto Morelos, then the shops in Playa del Carmen, then back to the hotel. The driver stays with you the whole time and the vehicle is never shared. You set the pace; nobody is waiting for you to get back on a bus.

Booked by the hour, not by the route

Every other service we run is priced from one point to another, which works perfectly when you know where you are going. It stops working the moment the day has four destinations and no fixed order. Open Transportation flips the unit: you pay for time with the vehicle rather than for kilometers between two addresses, with a three hour minimum, and inside that block the itinerary is yours to change on the spot. Decide at lunch that you would rather see the cenote tomorrow and go to Puerto Morelos instead, and nothing about the booking has to be renegotiated.

How it differs from a tour

A tour sells you a route, a guide and a schedule, and it sells the same three to everyone else on the bus. This sells you a vehicle. There is no group to keep together, no departure time to make, no forty-minute stop at a place selling handicrafts. If your family wants to spend three hours at the cenote instead of the allotted one, you spend three hours at the cenote. What you do not get is a certified guide narrating the ruins — for Chichén Itzá or Cobá with a proper guide, a private tour is the better product and we will tell you so rather than sell you the wrong one.

What we need to quote it, and what moves the price

Send us the date, the starting point, roughly how many hours you want and how many passengers are traveling. Three things move the number: the size of the vehicle, the length of the block, and how far the route reaches — a day inside Cancun and a day that runs down to Tulum and back are not the same amount of driving. The quote comes back all in, with fuel, tolls, parking and taxes already inside it, so the figure you approve is the figure you pay. If the day runs longer than planned you can extend by the hour with the driver, at the rate agreed in advance.

How far can we go?

Anywhere inside the service area — Cancun, the Hotel Zone, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum. Longer runs such as Bacalar, Mérida or Chichén Itzá are possible; tell us and we quote them as a full-day service.

Is a guide included?

No. This is a private vehicle with a professional driver, not a guided tour. If you want a certified guide for an archaeological site, ask us about private tours instead.

How many passengers fit?

From 1 to 20. We assign the vehicle to the size of your group — sedan, van or a larger unit — and the rate follows the vehicle, not the number of seats used.
